Easy Flapjack Recipe – This is one of the easiest recipes you will ever follow and with only a handful of ingredients, its very cheap to make. It is perfect for parties, picnics and coffee mornings, plus it tastes delicious. I made this with two of my nieces, and they loved helping, so perfect to make with kids.
Serves: 15 big slices
Preparation: 10 minutes
Baking: 35 minutes
Skill: Really easy, good to do with children.
Tin required: 1 x 24cmx24cm/9.5inchx9.5inch square tin
225g/8oz unsalted butter, plus extra for greasing
225g/8oz soft brown sugar
75g/3oz golden syrup
275g/10oz porridge oats, make sure you don’t get giant oats as it won’t work
Preheat your oven to 160c/gas mark 3. Grease and line a 30x23cm traybake tin with greaseproof paper.
Place your butter, soft brown sugar and golden syrup into a saucepan and heat slowly until the butter has melted. The butter will look like its separating from the sugar/syrup mixture, but don’t worry this is fine. You may want to stir it occasionally and don’t let it boil.
Once the butter has melted and been thoroughly mixed with the sugar and syrup, take it off the heat. Pour your porridge oats into the saucepan mixture and mix until well combined. I found it easiest to do this with a wooden spoon.
